Nakagin Capsule Tower, architect Kisho Kurokawa's Metabolist masterpiece, was demolished in 2022, but two of its component capsules have been preserved in this tiny rental gallery. One of them has been restored to its original 1972 splendor, complete with built-in reel-to-reel tape deck and molded-plastic unit bathroom, while the other has been stripped to its skeleton and is used as an exhibition space.

At just ten square meters the restored capsule is smaller than expected, but it was fully equipped for use as a pied-a-terre or one-person office in its original Ginza location. After taking off your shoes you can inspect the interior, sit on the bed, and open the drawers and cabinets (there's art inside!), but you're asked not to touch any of the art.

Check the gallery's website to make sure that they're not closed between exhibitions.
